Yes Fried Bake for Breakfast
Some people recoil at the idea of fried bread first thing in the morning. However, if you have ever been to the Caribbean, this is not as unusual as you may think. Fried Bakes are a staple and are delicious when served piping hot! Visit Maracas Beach in Trinidad and Tobago and sample "Shark and Bake". You won't be disappointed!
2 Cups Flour
3/4 Tsp Salt
2 Tsp Baking Powder
3/4 Cup Water
Oil for frying
Combine the flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl.
Add the water until you get a soft dough. Knead for about 10 mins and leave to rest for about 1/2 hour.
Cut into 8 pieces and roll each piece into a small ball.
Roll out each ball into a disc of about 15 cm.
Fry to a golden brown in hot oil turning once. Serve immediately.
This bread can be eaten with just about anything. It is most commonly eaten with spicy fried fish accompanied by condiments such as tamarind chutney and pepper sauce.
